Miinjeni made a survey in Shimbwe area in 2008. This survey showed that Shimbwe needed a blood pressure clinic. Since then Miinjeni has once a month been up at Shimbwe dispensary to check the population’s blood pressure. Now people are coming there for their check ups, education and treatment.
Miinjeni also has a diabetes clinic at the same time as the blood pressure clinic. Blood sugar equipment has been sponsored to Miinjeni and that makes it possible to check the patient’s blood sugar level. It has shown that not many people have high blood sugar levels in Shimbwe but we are concerned that it is because those people do not come to the dispensary. As soon as we have enough money and time we will do a new survey, where we also check their blood sugar level.
